Do You Want to be a Tree Steward?

One of the goals of the PAPA 2023 Master Plan is to enhance and add to the existing tree canopy. An important step in protecting our tree canopy investments is to make sure it is being properly maintained. However, the City of Fort Wayne does not currently have funding in place to provide maintenance to its street trees.

On May 16 and 17, 2024, the Indiana DNR and ACRES Land Trust will be hosting a two-day Tree Steward workshop in Huntertown, IN. The registration fee for this event is expected to be $30.00. This workshop and subsequent certification requires that you provide 15 volunteer hours within your community maintaining trees. This is the perfect opportunity for tree lovers in PAPA to give back to our community! If you are interested in taking this course please let us know. There may be scholarship funds available, via PAPA or the DNR, for the registration fee. This is a program recommended by the City of Fort Wayne’s Forestry Department.

When registration opens it will be posted on the Community & Urban Forestry website.
